The United States of America has handed over C-130H aircraft equipment and maintenance parts to Botswana Defense Force (BDF) as part of efforts to support its airlift capability.
Handing over the donation, U.S. Charge d'Affaires, Christopher Gunning, said the donation represents a sustained investment to Botswana's airlift capability and reflects the longstanding relationship between Botswana and the United States.
Unpacking more, Gunning added that the spares are intended to keep Botswana's C-130H fleet operational and ensure Botswana's preparedness to responding to any humanitarian crisis, support peacekeeping and transport personnel and supplies.
"This delivery further strengthens the BDF’s ability to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, as well as support to regional security programs. The C-130 is truly a multipurpose aircraft that supports national, regional, and global interests, and we could not be prouder to support that effort in partnership with the BDF through their enduring C-130 program," he stated.
Minister for State President, Defense and Security, Moeti Mohwasa and Botswana Defense Force Commander, General Mpho Churchill Mophuting received the donation.
