A white monohull sailboat is stationary on calm, deep blue open ocean water under clear skies. One person wearing a life vest is visible on the foredeck, and a small red vessel — consistent with a Coast Guard or rescue boat — is visible in the background. An American flag is flying from the rigging, and the sails are furled.

The Reliance-class medium endurance cutter USCGC Vigorous (WMEC 627) tows the disabled vessel American Eagle II during a search and rescue operation more than 100 miles off the coast of South Carolina, June 21, 2026. Vigorous’ crew later transferred the tow to the 87-foot Marine Protector-class cutter USCGC Coho (WPB 87321) where upon approaching Mayport, Florida, a final transfer was conducted with commercial salvage to tow the American Eagle II safely to shore.
