    Soldiers from the Iowa National Guard, assigned to Joint Task Force-District of Columbia (JTF-DC), pose for a photo with D.C. Fire and EMS firefighters from Engine Company 6 at their firehouse in Washington, D.C., Aug. 28, 2026. Engine Company 6 provided the Soldiers use of its firehouse while they conducted patrols in the surrounding community in support of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission. About 4,300 National Guard members are supporting the mission, providing critical assistance to the Metropolitan Police Department to help ensure the safety of residents, commuters and visitors throughout the District.
