    Joint Force Headquarters - Iowa National Guard

    Soldiers from the Iowa National Guard, assigned to Joint Task Force-District of Columbia (JTF-DC) in support of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission, patrol the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Metro system in Washington, D.C., Aug. 29, 2026. About 4,300 National Guard members are supporting the operation, providing critical assistance to the Metropolitan Police Department to help ensure the safety of residents, commuters and visitors throughout the District.
