    Operation Ardent Vanguard   

    New Mexico National Guard Sgt. Michael Brown, assigned to the 126th Military Police Company, 111th Military Police Battalion, Joint Task Force–Southern Border (JTF-SB) in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, conducts a patrol utilizing the Wingman and Pitbull counter-unmanned aircraft systems along the U.S.-Mexico border in Roma, Texas, Aug. 27, 2026. The Wingman is used to detect drone activity while the Pitbull neutralizes drone threats through specialized jamming technology providing protection for dismounted troops and security teams. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
