Fireman Miranda Verdugo Smith, a Sailor assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), performs hydrostatic testing with a fire hose in the ship’s hanger bay to ensure the shipboard equipment is mission ready, Aug. 28, 2026. Bataan is currently undergoing regularly scheduled maintenance in the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia.
