U.S. Air Force Airman Zacharee Reinwald, a search and rescue extraction medic assigned to the 115th Fighter Wing, Wisconsin Air National Guard, climbs a training tower for the first time during rope rescue instruction at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center, Wisconsin, Aug. 26, 2026. Patriot 26, an Air National Guard-hosted exercise taking place at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center, brings together approximately 1,000 Airmen and Soldiers from National Guard units across 35 states, along with federal, state and local agencies, to enhance domestic response readiness and interagency coordination during large-scale emergencies. The hands-on training allows Airmen to build confidence using rope systems and practice techniques required to operate safely in elevated rescue environments.
