U.S. Air Force Honor Guard members present the colors during a Distinguished Flying Cross presentation ceremony at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, Aug. 21, 2026. The ceremony honored Capt. Tyler Penkalski, an instructor pilot assigned to the 88th Flying Training Squadron, and Capt. Dakota Bowden, an instructor pilot assigned to the 469th Flying Training Squadron, as recipients of the Distinguished Flying Cross for their extraordinary acts of heroism and achievement while participating in aerial flight during military operations within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
