U.S. Air Force Gen. Adrian Spain, commander of Air Combat Command; Capt. Tyler Penkalski, an instructor pilot assigned to the 88th Flying Training Squadron; and Capt. Dakota Bowden, an instructor pilot assigned to the 469th Flying Training Squadron, enter into a Distinguished Flying Cross presentation ceremony at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, Aug. 21, 2026. The ceremony recognized Penkalski and Bowden for their extraordinary acts of heroism and achievement while participating in aerial flight during military operations within the U.S. Central command area of operations.
