    Marine Corps Recruiting Command

Sgt. Jennifer Brozowsky, 32, the chemical warfare defense chief instructor, demonstrates to recruits the proper technique they will use to break the seal of their masks while inside the gas chamber July 30, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. All recruits break the seals of their masks to briefly expose themselves to a non-lethal, irritant tear gas. The training ensures recruits become comfortable with using a gas mask in a chemically or biologically contaminated environment. Brozowsky is a native of Ojai, Calif. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Sept. 20, 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent for females in the Marine Corps. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Sept. 20, 2013.
