Sgt. Jennifer Brozowsky, 32, the chemical warfare defense chief instructor, demonstrates to recruits the proper technique they will use to break the seal of their masks while inside the gas chamber July 30, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. All recruits break the seals of their masks to briefly expose themselves to a non-lethal, irritant tear gas. The training ensures recruits become comfortable with using a gas mask in a chemically or biologically contaminated environment. Brozowsky is a native of Ojai, Calif. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Sept. 20, 2013.
