    Active-duty Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division (Multi-Domain Command-Pacific) and their experienced wildland fire strike team leaders and crew bosses received a situation update and safety briefing from their Task Force Leader (white helmet) before hiking into the Stormy Mountain Fire August 21, 2026 near Chelan, Wash. Approximately 250 active-duty U.S. Army soldiers are currently mobilized as hand crews to assist with wildfire suppression efforts at the request of the National Multi-Agency Coordinating Group (NMAC) located at the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho.
