A firefighter assigned to the 21st Civil Engineer Squadron conducts fire suppression operations during a full-scale emergency response exercise at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, Aug. 19, 2026. The triennial exercise simulated a commercial aircraft crash and tested regional emergency response capabilities, including fire suppression, incident command, mass-casualty response and coordination with mutual aid partners. The training strengthened firefighters’ ability to respond to complex emergencies and reinforced the readiness needed to support Space Base Delta 1’s mission and protect personnel, infrastructure and mission operations.
