    U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Logan Taylor, assigned to the 418th Civil Affairs Battalion, pets a shelter dog during a visit to Lese Animal Shelter in Vilnius, Lithuania, Aug. 18, 2026. Members of the 418th Civil Affairs Battalion stationed in Lithuania coordinated the event as part of an ongoing effort to build relationships and trust with Lithuanian partners. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO allies.
