U.S. Army Capt. Anthony Eliopoulos, commander of the 196th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment (Forward), returns a shelter dog to its kennel after a walk during a community service visit to the Lese Animal Shelter in Vilnius, Lithuania, Aug. 18, 2026. Soldiers rotated dogs in and out of the shelter throughout the visit so more animals got time outside. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies.
