Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Air Force Gen. Dan Caine offers condolences to Maddoz family following the funeral service for U.S. Army Gen. David Maddox, in Section 34 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026.
Gen. Maddox had a long and distinguished career in the Army, serving for more than 34 years. This included four tours in Germany where he commanded every level from platoon through NATO’s Central Army Group and six years in Europe where he assisted in the transition from the Cold War through Desert Storm. He retired after serving as the 28th Commander, U.S. Army Europe. His military awards include two Army Distinguished Service Medals, the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Medal.
