    IKEGO HILLS FAMILY HOUSING AREA, Japan (Aug. 17, 2026) - Capt. Jon Hopkins, Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY), right, and installation mascot Yoko-Pon pose with students outside Ikego Elementary School on the first day of school, Aug. 17, 2026. Base leadership visited the campus to support returning families and underscore the installation’s partnership with Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) schools. CFAY provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel and their families.
