Two self-propelled artillery vehicles are positioned in an open dirt field with a treeline in the background. The foreground vehicle has just fired its main gun, producing a large plume of white and brown smoke rising into an overcast sky. This appears to be a military training exercise or live-fire demonstration.

Northern Strike 26-2, Michigan's largest and longest joint readiness exercise, is held from Aug. 1 to 15, 2026, at the National All-Domain Warfighting Center.
