Members of the 1st Battalion, 182nd Field Artillery Regiment, Michigan National Guard, conduct a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System Rapid Infiltration (HIRAIN) during Northern Strike 26-2 at Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, Michigan, Aug. 10, 2026. The training demonstrates the rapid air movement of an M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) into a forward, remote or contested location using a cargo aircraft. The airlift is conducted by the 139th Airlift Wing, Missouri Air National Guard.
Northern Strike is an Army sponsored, multi-component, multinational exercise designed to build readiness and enhance interoperability to fight and win. Northern Strike 26-2, Michigan’s largest and longest joint readiness exercise, is held from August 1 to 15, 2026 at the National All-Domain Warfighting Center.
