U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Hollie Stidham, a Security Forces Airman assigned to the 51st Security Forces Squadron, flies a drone during a drone defense exercise at Osan Air Base, South Korea, Aug. 6, 2026. Stidham operated the drone while U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery crew members simulated tracking and engaging it with the AN/TWQ-1 Avenger Air Defense System, a weapon system designed to detect and destroy low-flying helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The training integrated emerging unmanned aircraft systems into air defense operations, helping Soldiers and Airmen adapt to evolving battlefield threats while strengthening joint readiness and advancing the modernization of U.S. military capabilities.
