Jakob Cridilich, a small unmanned aircraft system operator assigned to Detachment 1, Delta Company, 173rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, Wisconsin Army National Guard, operates an unmanned aircraft system as part of a simulated search and recovery during the 114th Fighter Wing’s Operation EDGECRUSHER Combat Readiness Inspection at Volk Field Air National Guard Base in Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, Aug. 7, 2026. Throughout the exercise, held Aug. 3-9, Volk Field served as the simulated forward operating base while the inspection evaluated the wing’s ability to generate, employ and sustain combat power under threat conditions in accordance with mission-essential task standards.
