Rear Adm. Robert Hawkins, commander, Naval Medical Forces Atlantic (NMFL), is flanked by Steven Robey, NAVFAC Indian Head Facilities Project Manager, and Capt. Ken Radford, commanding officer, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Patuxent River, as they stand with a multi-agency group of leaders, facilities planners, engineering partners, and staff representing the collaborative Navy and joint coalition in front of the newly modernized Building 320 at Naval Support Facility Indian Head, Aug. 4. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the culmination of a highly cooperative project to transition the historic 1918 former firehouse and chapel into a state-of-the-art administrative and operational hub. Key stakeholders from Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), Navy Medicine (BUMED/NMFL), Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) South Potomac, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Naval Support Activity South Potomac partnered closely to fund, plan, engineer, and execute the complex conversion, providing the local Industrial Hygiene department with the dedicated facility required to protect the joint force.
