U.S. Navy Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Qunqun Yang, assigned to Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), right, is awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (NAM) from U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Joe Cahill, commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, during a ship visit, Aug. 5, 2026. Yang was awarded the NAM for overseeing the issue of 240 mission critical aviation and surface repairable parts to both Navy and Marine Corps units, including 3 aircraft engines, in support of successful integration exercises as well as orchestrating the transfer of 200 aviation repair parts across the amphibious readiness group. Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet ensures fleet commanders are equipped with personnel, materiel and training required to project credible naval power at sea, ashore, at home and abroad.
