Dr. David Douin, associate professor of anesthesiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine, presents findings from the Department of War-funded SAVE-O2 AI clinical trial at the Military Health System Research Symposium in Kissimmee, Florida, Aug. 3, 2026. Published yesterday in JAMA Internal Medicine, the multi-center trial found that patients receiving autonomous oxygen titration spent 85 percent of their time in the target oxygen range compared with 63 percent under standard clinician-managed care, with fewer manual adjustments by clinical staff and no increase in serious adverse events.
