A U.S. Marine with Marine Corps Engineer Detachment-Pacific 26.1 uses the Lightweight Water Purification System 3.0 to produce clean, treated water at the South Dock Water Point on on Peleliu, Palau, July 20, 2026. Rather than relying solely on scarce potable water resources, the detachment leverages this purified output for essential, preventative equipment washdowns and vehicle maintenance, ensuring all engineering and tactical assets remain in a fully mission-capable status. MCED-P is a partnership in the Indo-Pacific region that strengthens established relationships, bolsters theater security cooperation, and enhances the resilience of our allies and partners through community outreach, civic assistance, and infrastructure improvement projects.
