A U.S. Alaska Air National Guard KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 168th Wing, and a F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the 18th Fighter Interceptor taxi for takeoff in support of Operation TUNDRA MERLIN at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, Aug. 4, 2026. The aircraft were deployed in the Alaskan theater of operations under the command and control of U.S.Northern Command and Alaskan Command, combat crews exercised offensive and defensive counterair, long-range precision fires, and aerial refueling in a single, integrated mission.
