Soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 278th Mobile Brigade Combat Team (MBCT) attend the retirement ceremony for U.S. Army 1st Sgt. James R. Tomlinson in the Hall of Flags at Tennessee National Guard Joint Force Headquarters in Nashville, Tenn., Aug. 1, 2026. Tomlinson spent much of his Tennessee National Guard career with the 278th MBCT, serving as an infantryman and later in leadership positions.
