Native wetland vegetation known as “great bulrush” thrives along the shoreline of the Nu’upia Ponds following ongoing restoration efforts at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, July 30, 2026. The event was held to restabilize the ecological and cultural integrity of the fishpond as part of the ongoing efforts to preserve traditional Hawaiian aquaculture systems and enhance environmental resilience and strengthen partnerships between the military and the local community through shared stewardship.
