A cvil mariner assigned to the Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo ship USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11) signals to lower a low cost tow target into the water in preparation for a gun exercise during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Singapore 2013. More than 700 sailors and Marines are participating in CARAT Singapore. U.S. Navy units participating in CARAT Singapore include the guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62), the littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1), the Washington Chambers, a U.S. Marine Corps platoon assigned to 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 7 staff, serving as Commander, Task Force 73.1.
