U.S. Navy sailors get ready to connect a 600-foot line to a low cost tow target for a gun exercise during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Singapore 2013. The target was pulled by a high speed boat remotely operated from the Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo ship USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11). More than 700 sailors and Marines are participating in CARAT Singapore. U.S. Navy units participating in CARAT Singapore include the guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62), the littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1), the Washington Chambers, a U.S. Marine Corps platoon assigned to 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 7 staff, serving as Commander, Task Force 73.1.
