The engineering department aboard the pre-commissioned Fast Response Cutter USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo (WPC 1163) stands together after completing advanced mechanical training at the MTU facility in Detroit on Jan. 28, 2026. To attend this specialized school, the engineering team traveled over 7,500 miles. Over the course of the training, the crew achieved mastery of the FRC’s primary propulsion machinery, the massive MTU 20-cylinder diesel engines that give the Sentinel-class its trademark speed, endurance, and operational reach.
