As a storm front moved through West Virginia on July 21, 2026, Governor Patrick Morrisey declared a State of Emergency for all 55 counties and activated the WVNG as the storm's severity became known. Already conducting Annual Training at Camp Dawson in Kingwood, West Virginia, the 1092nd Engineer Battalion sprang into action, transitioning from training on Large Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) to executing real-world Domestic Operations (DOMOPS).
