A red U.S. Coast Guard helicopter hovers above a large concrete structure, likely a dam or flood control facility, while personnel conduct what appears to be a rescue or training exercise. One person in an orange safety harness is rappelling or suspended on the vertical concrete wall, while two other individuals stand on top of the structure observing. The scene is set against a lush green hillside under a partly cloudy blue sky.

U.S. Coast Guard personnel assigned to Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point in Kapolei, Hawaii, conduct simulated cliff and structural extraction training at Bellows Air Force Base, Hawaii, July 9, 2026. RIMPAC 2026 will build on the success of RIMPAC 2024 with a larger contingent of partners demonstrating the inherent flexibility of maritime forces. The exercise will cover a wide range of capabilities including amphibious operations, gunnery and missile proficiency, anti-submarine warfare, air defense exercises, military medicine, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, counter-piracy, mine clearance, explosive ordnance disposal, and diving and salvage operations. Throughout the exercise, partners train and operate together to strengthen our collective forces and promote a free and open Indo-Pacific.
