Members of the Royal Australian Air Force and 36th Contingency Response Group defend the entrance to Williamson Airfield, July 22. The 36th CRG assumed command and control of the airfield from the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division (Airborne) and turned over command to the Royal Australian Air Force as part of a multiphase combined joint operation. Talisman Saber is a biennial training activity aimed at improving the combat readiness and interoperability of the Australian Defence Force and U.S. forces.
