A swimmer wearing diving goggles and a dark wetsuit is partially submerged in clear blue water, positioned behind a long, heavily encrusted submerged object. The object appears to be a corroded metal or wooden beam/pole covered in marine growth including barnacles, rust, and red organisms. The setting appears to be a harbor or calm coastal water body.

U.S. Navy Builder Petty Officer Second Class Gavin Multhaupt, a Seabee assigned to Underwater Construction Team (UCT) Two, removes a corroded wooden pile from beneath the pier during a repair project at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii on July 7, 2026. RIMPAC 2026 will build on the success of RIMPAC 2024 with a larger contingent of partners demonstrating the inherent flexibility of maritime forces. The exercise will cover a wide range of capabilities including amphibious operations, gunnery and missile proficiency, anti-submarine warfare, air defense exercises, military medicine, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, counter-piracy, mine clearance, explosive ordnance disposal, and diving and salvage operations. Throughout the exercise, partners train and operate together to strengthen our collective forces and promote a free and open Indo-Pacific.
