U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to V Corps compete in a basketball tournament during an Independence Day celebration at Pabradė Training Area, Lithuania, July 3, 2026. The tournament was among the sporting events held across the training area to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States independence and the July 6th commemoration of the 1253 coronation of King Mindaugas for the Lithuanian Statehood Day Celebration, drawing U.S. and allied troops into friendly competition. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies. V Corps is operationalizing and expanding the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative with Allies, rapidly integrating emerging technologies into training and tactical plans.
