    CORONADO, Calif. (July 3, 2026) – U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Brendan McLane. left, renders a salute as he turns over command to U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Joe Cahill, center, while U.S. Navy Adm. Steve Koehler, commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, presides over the Naval Surface Forces change of command ceremony, July 3. During the ceremony, which was presided over by Koehler, Cahill relieved McLane as commander, Naval Surface Forces, and commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CNSP). The mission of CNSP is to man, train, and equip the Surface Force to provide fleet commanders with credible naval power to control the sea and project power ashore.
