Command Sgt. Maj. Carvet C. Tate, the senior enlisted advisor of the 1st Armored Division, and Sgt. Maj. Matthew W. Gorman, the division's operations sergeant major, render a salute during a wreath-laying ceremony at the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial in Nettuno, Italy. The solemn tribute honored the thousands of American service members, including 247 "Iron Soldiers," who were killed during the liberation of Italy in World War II. For the visiting soldiers, the experience was a powerful and personal connection to their division's history and the sacrifices made by those who came before them. (US Army Photo by Cpl, Zion Thomas)
