Patrick Bergman, the outgoing commanding officer of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 242, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, receives a meritorious service medal from Col. Willam Millett and Sgt. Maj. James Gray, the commanding officer and sergeant major of MAG-12, 1st MAW, during a change of command ceremony at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, June 17, 2026. Bergman relinquished command to Lt. Col. Nathaniel Thayer after serving as VMFA-242’s commanding officer for two years.
