Nathan Wagner, assigned to Commander, Fleet Activities Okinawa (CFAO), places candles in cups during a community relations event at Peace Memorial Park in Itoman, Okinawa, Japan, June 22, 2026. Held on the eve of Okinawa Memorial Day, the event marked the 81st anniversary of the 1945 Battle of Okinawa, honoring more than 200,000 lives lost. CFAO maintains and operates facilities supporting United Nations Command-Rear missions, coalition and allied partners, U.S. Navy ships, submarines, aircraft and joint force assets throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
