U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Tyler Foster, center, a Medical Education and Training Campus Occupational Therapy Assistant course instructor assigned to the 264th Medical Battalion, teaches his students to mold a custom splint at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston on June 16, 2026. This section of the course teaches students to soften thermoplastic in a water bath at approximately 140°F to 160°F, then mold it directly to the patient's anatomical landmarks.
