A U.S. Army HH-60M Black Hawk medical evacuation helicopter crew assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard prepares to transport an injured civilian during an aeromedical evacuation in a remote mountainous area of southern Arizona, June 17, 2026. The crew conducted the rapid rescue after receiving an emergency request to assist a civilian worker supporting border barrier construction who had experienced a medical crisis. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
