A military helicopter, consistent with a UH-60 Black Hawk silhouette, sits stationary on a wet tarmac at dusk or dawn. The low-angle ground-level shot dramatically emphasizes the reflective surface of the airfield and a vivid sky with scattered clouds illuminated by golden horizon light. Runway lighting and distant structures are visible in the background.

    Operation Ardent Vanguard

A U.S. Army HH-60M Black Hawk medical evacuation helicopter assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard sits on the flight line to prepare for subsequent missions in southern Arizona, June 17, 2026. The aircraft completed a rapid response to a request for assistance in a remote and austere environment, executing a hoist recovery to safely transport a patient to a higher level of medical care. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
