A U.S. Marine with the chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear platoon, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, evaluates U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH-19) while they triage a simulated casualty during a decontamination demonstration as part of Mercy Exercise 26-3 on Naval Base San Diego, California, June 17, 2026. During MERCEX 26-3, Navy personnel partnered for the first time with U.S. Marines assigned to 1st MLG and 1st Marine Division to execute critical medical and CBRN decontamination training at San Diego naval facilities and aboard the USS Fort Worth (LCS-3). This quarterly exercise directly strengthened readiness and integration between Marines and Sailors to respond safely and effectively in a CBRN environment. (Gunnery Sgt. Jesus Sepulveda Torres)
