Members of the 126th Engineering Flight, 126th Civil Engineer Squadron, 126th Air Refueling Wing of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois and members of the 374th CES of Yokota, Air Base Japan used digital surveying equipment to mark assets within the Tama Hills Recreation Area May 13, 2026 Tokyo, Japan.
The Engineering team specializes in precision surveying, soils testing and computer aided drafting. Their workflow supports reconnaissance, map making and construction. The center is comprised of 250 acres and it provides a convenient way for military members in Japan to get outdoors.
Much of Tama is densely wooded with heavy underbrush in some areas. Any brush the Engineering Flight encountered was quickly trimmed back with the machete. Illinois Air Guardsmen were deployed for training to Yokota. The temporary duty was strategically designed to provide on the job training opportunities and host nation cultural experiences that will ready the 126th CES Airmen to build or maintain bases during contingency operations any where in the world.
