Soldiers from the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” conduct full military funeral honors with escort for U.S. Army Col. Roy Isaacson in Section 62 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, May 13, 2026.
Isaacson served in the Army for over 29 years, including a tour in Vietnam and one in Germany during the Cold War. During this time, Isaacson served as the military police officer in charge of “Checkpoint Charlie” - one of the Berlin Wall’s few official crossing points.
His military awards include the Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters and the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters.
Brenda, Isaacson’s spouse, received the U.S. flag from his funeral service.
