U.S. Marines with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, load their equipment into a UH-60M Black Hawk during a reconnaissance mission in El Cajon, Calif., June 7, 2026. The mission provided Army soldiers and Marines an opportunity to strengthen joint partnerships, utilizing air assets for rapid infiltration and exfiltration while conducting aerial reconnaissance. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
