U.S. Army Pfc. Warren Miranda, a UH-60M Black Hawk repairer and aircrew member with the 3-501st Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Armored Division, Combat Aviation Brigade, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, looks out the left side door to search for possible hazards during a reconnaissance mission with U.S. Marines in El Cajon, California, June 7, 2026. The mission provided Army soldiers and Marines an opportunity to strengthen joint partnerships, utilizing air assets for rapid infiltration and exfiltration while conducting aerial reconnaissance. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
