A procession of World War II veterans drives by U.S. Navy Adm. Frank M. Bradley, commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, while visiting the Naval Combat Demolition Unit (NCDU) and Scouts and Raiders (S&R) Monument Park at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on June 5, 2026. The monument commemorates Naval Combat Demolition Unit personnel whose actions helped open the beaches for Allied forces during Operation Overlord. The Allied invasion of Normandy remains one of the largest multinational amphibious assaults and airborne operations in history and was a turning point marking the beginning of the end of WWII in Europe.
