World War II reenactors drive their vehicles onto Omaha Beach to attend the Tribute to the Bedford Boys Ceremony in Vierville-sur-Mer, France, June 6, 2026. The ceremony was a tribute to the 19 men from Bedford, Virginia whose loss during Operation Overlord was considered the highest per-capita devastation to any town in the U.S. More than 600 present day U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Guardians and Airmen from roughly 17 units historically linked to D-Day supported Joint Task Force 82 and participated in over 90 commemorative events throughout the Normandy Region.
