GDYNIA, Poland (June 4, 2026) – Sailors assigned to Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One (SNMCMG1) participate in a mass casualty exercise aboard the Estonian Navy Sandown-class minehunter EML Ugandi (M 315) during Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) 2026 in Gdynia, Poland, June 4, 2026. The exercise tested the group's ability to respond to a major emergency and demonstrated the readiness of participating ships to provide mutual support during crisis situations. The scenario was enhanced by the participation of a military fire brigade from Port Gdynia, highlighting the importance of cooperation between naval and shore-based emergency responders. BALTOPS 2026, the premier maritime-focused exercise in the Baltic Sea region, provides a unique training opportunity to strengthen combined response capabilities critical to preserving freedom of navigation and security in the Baltic Sea.
